His 7 year battle with Pancreatic Cancer has ended the life of one of America's most innovative visionaries. Many people, especially on social sites such as Twitter and Facebook, didn't believe anything until the news validated Steve's death. Thinking that it was just a stunt from Apple to boost sales for their upcoming product in the iPhone series. Unfortunately, it was no stunt. The man who introduced us to mobile music libraries (iPods), iTunes where people can legally download music to prevent pirating and other products has left us with his legacy.

Shepard Fairey was arrested Friday night on his way to the Institute of Contemporary Art for a kickoff event for his first solo exhibition, called “Supply and Demand.”

And also, Long Island's MF DOOM of the critically acclaimed 90's rap group KMD who were known for their Pro-Black song concepts.

This single dropped in, what?, 1999 or so? Yeah anyways, one of my favorite LootPack tracks. For those who didn't know, Madlib pretty much started his career with these dudes, Wild Child and DJ Romes. Umm...What Else....Oh Yeah! They premiered on The Alkaholiks' album in like '93 then signed to Stones Throw Records (Have you Noticed How Much I Like Stones Throw Yet?). They dropped only one album as The Lootpack but before that, they dropped a 12" vinyl under Madlib's dad's label called Crate Digga's Palace. Wildchild's flow on this track is superior. Check It.

One of the most original musicians of modern times, Daedelus, hails from Los angeles, California. You might've heard some of his work with Madlib or if you've listened to "Accordion" by Madvillain. Guess who the genius is behind that sample freakin the accordion is. He's thrown down some songs with Stones Throw Records as well as a bunch of other labels like Mush and Ninja Tune Records. Daedelus' style is totally experimental, abstract, off-kilter obscurity. He does his thing at shows too, rockin with his Monome, one of the first prototypes. Its basically an MPC with about 200+ buttons on it. That just makes his shows more unpredictably interesting because he freestyles. Here's his video for "Sundown"

Tragedy is a old school rapper who has managed to stay relevent with today's issues and style. Tragedy is from Queensbridge also a memeber of the righteous 5 PERCENT NATION. Most people never heard of Tragedy due to his constant incarceration (currently serving a four year bid on drug charges in 2007) and that fact that he never really gained a mainstream audience. But to all my real Hip-Hop fans, this man is a familiar face. this song is a personal favorite of his heavily bootlegged THUG Matrix album. Also on the track is another Q.B. affiliate, Cormega. Yo what ever happened to tracks like this circling the outer atmosphere of the hip hop culture? Songs that make people think about life and its aspects other than how big of a chain you can get with your next 3 pay checks. I mean, I don't wanna preach but, where's it going? "It" being hip hop. Rap is another story because the stuff heard in rap songs are expected to be heard. Its like it kinda leaked into the hip hop side of things though. No one talks about ANYTHING anymore. Jay Z is even gettin the hang of the new jack swing. All he talks about now is cars, money and jewelry. We've gone from Rakim to Soulja Boy. MC Lyte to Lil' Mama. EA Skate dropped last year knockin a game from the crowd favorite franchise (Tony Hawk's Proving Grounds) out of the skateboarding game consumers' food chain. With its new Flick It trick system, continuous button mashing doesn't guarantee a landed trick. In other words, you actually have to TRY in order to land something. This means when you finally nail that line you wanted with you sick banger you're actually excited, just like real skaters. Upgraded physics, tricks and pro skaters helped lead the game to the top last year.

EA Skate 2 is gonna dominate once again this year (I believe its droping this year, not sure). It has DOUBLED your bag of tricks by adding lip tricks, foot plants, no-comply, hippy jumps and many other new tricks and variations. The game also gives you the ability to move objects in order to create new lines. This new feature would more appeal to street skaters because we who skate street have an eye for creativity.

As you all know, Nas is one of the most influential emcees in the whole rap game. With his colorful vocabulary and captivating flow, he always manages to paint a picture of life in Queensbridge. Last weekend, New Design High School in New York’s Lower East Side played host to the Roof Top Rampage Skateboard Showdown. Much like previous Billy Rohan and company initiated skate events including the King of Spring Skateboard Showdown, another strong turnout was on hand. The definitive highlight of the event was Luis Tolentino’s record breaking 45 inch ollie which in the process of setting a world record, also earned him a cool $800 bucks.

As we all know, Kanye is a fan of making multiple alternate videos to some of his singles (this guy got money to spend). Just Like The "Jesus Walks" trilogy, here spawns the third video for Kanye's latest single "Flashing Lights". The videos seem to be confusing but pleasing Kanye fans at the same time. I didn't cover the second video but its the most literal, sensible one. The first video with Rita G doing a slow motion act in nothing but some lingerie, directed by Spike Jonze, left me asking a million questions.

This third installment is more of a horror flick/mystery film with the classic unusual girl and the who-did-it? death after the lights cut back on. The song is supposed to describe the down side of fame and materialism. Its hard to see that judging by what the videos illustrate.

I might be the only one but everyday I'm becoming less and less a Kanye West fan. I used to follow his work a lot but now I think that the money is getting to his head. If you disagree then compare his old work to what he's putting out now. Before he was more about hood happenings, family, friends, and basically stuff goin on with him that I could relate to. Now-a-days he only cares about clothes, and material things. That Great confidence he used to have has turned into super cockyness......but I'm Just Sayin.

Coming onto the scene at the age of 21, Saint Laurent would enjoy many years of great success. His death is a HUGE loss to the fashion industry, I don't even believe that the clothing will still be the same. Yves Saint Laurent was, and still is my favorite designer in upscale fashion.

A new record shop opened in my hood about last week or so, so me and my bro went to go see what type of music they had. I was shocked to find Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). But what i was more shocked to find was "Jay Love Japan", let alone Dilla music of any sort because around here, you're either 'gettin lite' or dick ridin Lil Wayne. It just so happened that the dude working in the shop was a big Jay Dee (J Dilla) fan. The album is short but sweet. Dilla continues to blur the line between DJ cutting and Beatmaking. As far as the Album title goes, I took it as him basically saying what most real artists who are overlooked by a US market due to lack of gimicks say. “Overseaes has more love” For whatever reason I think its fair to say he loved Japanese culture.
